The Road to #YFF11 (Yorkton Film Festival) 12-Days-to-Go: EVAN JOBB
I first entered because I was just curious to see if I was any good. It’s not like it cost a lot to enter, the hardest part is probably waiting from January till March to find out the top 50.
Also before you enter, rewrite and edit and then rewrite and edit some more. Turn the script on its head and see if it looks better, take it out of the dark and examine it in the light, look at all possibilities until you know that what you have written is the best it can be. And don’t stop till the deadline. You could argue that you should submit early so that your script isn’t lost in the flood of last minute script, but I submitted all my scripts on the deadline. If I submit earlier, then I have just thrown away editing time. Edit all the way up to the deadline (and if you’re still not done, there is always the January deadline). Continue reading

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Canadian Short Screenplay Competition Announces Top 13 Finalist Screenplays
The grand prizewinner will receive the Writers’ Block Crystal and an Apple iPad, in addition to the largest cash prize of any short film screenplay competition, $2,500.00. Second and Third place entrants will receive $500.00 and $100.00, respectively. The grand prizewinner will be announced and made official during the Golden Sheaf Awards gala at the Yorkton Film Festival, May 28, 2011 in Yorkton, SK. Continue reading
